Prem Nagar Ashram, Hardwar, India
the first photo is of Haridwar from a few miles up in space. Prem Nagar ashram is located and indicated near bottom right the second is closer up. the second is a close up of Prem Nagar. the large structure near the middle of the photo is a 5000 capacity hall that was built on what were crop fields. the day i first arrived, they were planting something in that field. i had just come down with dysentery and didn't feel much like farming.....the smaller building just below the large hall is the original Satsang Hall, which could probably hold 4 or 500 in a pinch. the property extends down to the Ganges canal, which directs part of the Ganges River somewhere for some reason. the water was ice cold and crystal clear. they've built a bathing ghat on the bank. it was just wild when i was there. i believe the round objects are probably sewerage treatment facilities. the Premies dug a very huge hole at that spot in 1971 and it served as a holding pond for all the leftovers from 500 Western Premies who were living there at the time. there were no flush toilets and NO toilet paper....i learned how to use a Lota. look it up.........does anyone know who these European folks are sitting with Shri Hans? they look pretty happy!
